It lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is an ideal starting point for tranquil country walks. Southstoke Hall itself is a former Vicarage and dates from the 13th Century. The west facing Calverley Wing looks out over the large orchard garden and tennis court, which visitors are welcome to use. The elegant and comfortable accommodation is well placed for exploring the World Heritage City of Bath and beyond. As well as its superb architecture and the Roman Baths, the city has several fascinating Museums, and is well known for its varied and interesting shops and restaurants. The Packhorse is the village's 17th Century Pub which serves meals and traditional cider. Within walking distance there are other good pubs where you can eat well. Local shops are one mile away. Many interesting places to visit such as Wells, Stourhead, Longleat House & Safari Park, Bristol, Glastonbury, Cheddar, Lacock and Castle Combe are not far away. Excellent footpath walks start from the front door. Folders of brochures and maps are available here for your use. PUBLIC TRANSPORTA regular service at 15 minute intervals runs from the main road, which is a seven minute walk away. The Park & Ride service is efficient and popular.
